Bread for today. - January 16, 2016
In case you missed it: Blog Post from last week! "A Seller of Apples."
Hey guys,
One quick update/prayer request for today--we are going to help out with a ministry that works with homeless folks on the street today, called Sigo Vivo, to see if that's a place where one or both of us could work well in and if God's calling us to those needs and those blessings. A couple things:
1. Rudy has pastored a local church for 15 years and his family started Sigo Vivo as a Saturday program where homeless folks (many of whom are on inhalants and other addictive substances) could come to the church, shower, eat, do an activity, etc. A few months ago the elders of the church didn't like that there were drug addicts in the church and henceforth fired Rudy. So now Rudy, his family, and Sigo Vivo are "unstable" but stably living in faith to what God has next for them. Most of all, they are dedicated to finding a new building to do ministry out of (for now it's in a small park), with showers available for the people in their community, having more consistent contact(throughout the week) with their Sigo Vivo community, and establishing a "halfway house" for people who get done with drug rehab and good place need a place to establish themselves away from old habits.
2. Tatiana (Rudy's wife) is a doctor, and she helps treat those who need it as a part of the Saturday ministry, which could be Alaina a place could use her skills in nursing and compassion.
Your prayers over minds and our eyes as we see and discern what is good for Guatemala and what is right for us in God's eyes is much appreciated. Can we not just help but be helpful at Sigo Vivo and amongst the homeless here? Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement. They are daily bread for us.
Sorry this is a bit hurriedly written, we gotta get out the door now!
Strength. Love. Peace.
